Why a catalogue still earns its place
A catalogue is the one piece of marketing people plan to come back to. It sits on the coffee table or the kitchen side for weeks, gets passed to whoever else lives there, and ends up with folded corners on the pages someone wants to buy from. A screen ad has to win attention in a second; a catalogue gets an evening. JICMAIL, the industry measure of mail, found catalogues held people’s attention for an average of 229 seconds per copy in early 2026, against 57 seconds for a standard door drop leaflet.
That is why retailers, homeware and furniture brands, garden centres, food delivery companies and local magazines still drop printed catalogues through letterboxes. The job is to put each copy in a home that is likely to order, rather than paying to print and post copies that go straight in the recycling.
We plan the areas, check your catalogue will travel, book the delivery and give you a way to see what came back. Clients such as IKEA and The Shuttle magazine have used LDM to put catalogues and magazines into the right homes.
Two ways to deliver a catalogue
- Royal Mail Door to DoorYour catalogue goes out with the daily post to every address in the postcode sectors you choose, anywhere in the UK. It suits catalogues up to A4 size and up to 200g. Allow around three weeks from booking to delivery.
- GPS tracked teamsOur own distribution teams cover all major towns and cities and can take heavier catalogues, up to 500g. Every route is tracked live, so you can see the streets covered while the campaign runs.
You do not have to choose both. Some campaigns use both, for example Royal Mail for a national spread and our teams for heavier copies around key stores. We will tell you which fits your catalogue and budget.
Will my catalogue fit?
Weight and thickness decide how a catalogue can be delivered and what it costs, so it is worth checking a printed sample before you sign off the print run.
| Your catalogue | How it can go |
|---|---|
| Up to A4 (210 x 297mm), up to 100g | Royal Mail Door to Door at standard rates, or our teams |
| Up to A4, 101g to 200g | Royal Mail Door to Door heavyweight rates, or our teams |
| Thicker than 5mm (up to 17mm) | Royal Mail, booked specially through its booking centre (we arrange this), or our teams |
| Over 200g, up to 500g | Our GPS tracked teams |
| Larger than A4 | Our GPS tracked teams |
Paper choice makes a bigger difference than most people expect. Dropping the cover or text paper by one weight can move a catalogue into a cheaper band without anyone noticing the change. If you have not printed yet, we can price the print and the delivery together.

Catalogue distribution FAQs
How much does catalogue distribution cost?
It depends mainly on weight, quantity and how tightly you target. A light catalogue under 100g costs far less per home than a heavy one, so we price from your actual size and paper. Send us the details and we will quote both delivery options.
Can Royal Mail deliver a catalogue?
Yes. Royal Mail Door to Door takes items up to A4 size and up to 200g, and thicker items up to 17mm when booked through its booking centre. We handle the booking, the depot paperwork and the print delivery for you.
What if my catalogue weighs more than 200g?
Our GPS tracked teams can deliver catalogues up to 500g in all major towns and cities. If you need national coverage, it is often worth looking at a lighter paper to bring the catalogue under 200g.
Can I send a catalogue only to certain types of household?
Yes. We can pick postcode sectors by household profile, affluence, property type or distance from your stores, so you print fewer copies and each one goes to a likelier buyer.
Do you print catalogues as well?
We can arrange print and delivery together, which saves you co-ordinating the printer and the depots. If you already have a printer, we will give them the delivery instructions.
How do I know if the catalogue worked?
Use a code or QR link unique to the drop, and ideally keep some matched areas without a catalogue. Comparing orders from both shows the real uplift.
